HKMU and Guangzhou Huashang College Sign MoU to Strengthen Teaching, Research, and Student Exchange

A delegation from Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), led by Professor Charles Kwong, Vice President (Administration and Corporate Development), visited Guangzhou Huashang College (Guangzhou Campus) on 13 May 2026. The delegation also included Professor Roger Scully, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences (A&SS); Dr Rebecca Leung, Associate Dean (Administration and Development); and Assistant Professors from the Department of Creative Arts of A&SS, namely Dr William Lai, Mr Vincent Mak, Mr Tin Lai-man, and Mr Walter Wong. During the visit, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise their partnership.

The HKMU delegation toured the campus and its teaching and innovation facilities, including Huashang Expo, the Digital Human Machine at the School of Health & Medicine, and the School of Intelligent Digital Cultural and Creative Industries. The visit provided valuable insights into the college's progress in innovation, cultural and creative industries, and interdisciplinary education.

Following the tour, the two sides also discussed institutional development, academic collaboration, and exchange opportunities. Under the broader university-level framework, the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the School of Arts and Social Sciences of Hong Kong Metropolitan University and Guangzhou Huashang College to deepen cooperation and strengthen ties in teaching, research, and student exchange, while supporting the development of higher education in the Greater Bay Area.
