French Film Screening: Suprêmes

To celebrate the Francophonie day on 20 March 2024, Dr Emilie Tran, Assistant Professor of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, collaborated with Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau and the Institut français, to show the 2021 movie – Suprêmes twice for free on 18 and 21 March 2024 at HKMU respectively.  The movie introduces many aspects of French culture and society, including the birth of hip hop and rap music in France while discussing socio-economic perspectives, French youth in impoverished neighborhoods, and how that youth uses rap music and dance to express their feelings.
