Encounter with Émile Bravo: unveiling the power of storytelling through the art of drawing

A two-hour workshop, titled “Encounter with Émile Bravo: unveiling the power of storytelling through the art of drawing” was delivered by a world-renowned comics artist, Mr Émile Bravo for HKMU students and staff on 8 March 2024.  This was one of an activity of the Francophonie Festival 2024 that Dr Emilie Tran, Assistant Professor of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, collaborated with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau. 

In the workshop, Mr Bravo presented his journey and work, and answered questions about the practical reality of the profession of cartoonist and comic book artist.  He also demonstrated his techniques by drawing few sketches on stage, and introduced characteristic and style of drawings from different countries. Dr Emilie Tran did the consecutive interpretation from French to English during the workshop.  The workshop attracted numerous students and staff to attend and the participants showed their enthusiasm in the workshop.
