Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours (BSSH) / Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS)

Programme Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the BSS programme, graduates should be able to:
a. Understand the nature, scope and principles of the social sciences;
b. Explain core concepts, theoretical perspectives and empirical findings in the social sciences, especially in the disciplines of political science, psychology, sociology and economics for integrated studies of an increasingly complex world;
c. Apply the knowledge of the social sciences to critically discern social issues and phenomena as well as to develop a better self-understanding as concerned and educated members of society; and
d. Demonstrate the ability to appreciate the rationale and approaches for social research studies and to assess their quality in terms of validity and reliability.

In addition to the learning outcomes for the BSS, graduates of the BSSH programme should be able to:
e. Develop individual and collaborative studies on social issues to identify implications, generate predictions and offer solutions for problems in a rapidly changing world; and
f. Identify, develop and communicate effectively practical ideas of implementing social sciences knowledge, skills, and approaches to a variety of settings and pursuits in life.
