Student's Description:
This poem incorporates what the writer has learnt in HKMU. The first stanza is about before studying in HKMU, the second is about non-academic growth (respect culture differences, critical thinking and time management),the third is about different things learnt. (presentation skills, analyzing cultural works and citation skills). Also, the first letter of each line spells out a word, and lines 1 and 13 contain references of To the lighthouse, a book taught in last term.
Up with the lark ,today's the start of a stage.
Now I Open University's door , turn over a new page.
I've battled DSE 'till May , escaped that cage.
Very much to learn in four years, where we come of age.
Enter my colleagues, from around the globe for class.
Respect who they are, to form bonds that will last.
Set up arguments and support with evidence is my task,
Its long gaps betwixt lectures, so optimize every grain in the hourglass.
Thanks for listening, no stutter presenting to a million.
You know, life is fiction, no one knows what's next in motion,
Interpreting them is the skill we hone for graduation.
Let's do the citing rite, fill in the “references” section.
Visions now clear, I 'll draw on this blurred canvas of future a line,
University days beget personal growth, world's a stage, spotlight's mine!
