Alumni Events and Activities Chinese Chess Fun Day

Chinese Chess is a symbolic and engaging strategy board game. While it requires players' strategic planning and persistence, it brings inspirational impacts to its player and can be enjoyed by individuals of all ages. On 3 December (Sunday), the Development and Alumni Affairs Office (DAAO) and the HKMU Alumni Association (HKMUAA) will join hands to co-organise the “Chinese Chess Fun Day”. Come meet the Chinese chess master and alumnus Mr Jet Chou Sai-kit who will deconstruct the chess strategy and share the inspiration brought by chess on how to change his life through chess, win various awards and be selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons.

The event will be held at the Ho Sik Yee Library on the Jockey Club Campus. There will be interactive games, mega chess board for playing and photo-taking, and a chess corner. Special highlight will be the Chess Simultaneous Exhibition where alumni are welcome to sign up to compete with Jet. There will be light refreshments and every participant will receive a special souvenir. The Library will open its door to participants during the event and a guided tour will be arranged. All alumni are welcome to bring your friends and families to catch a vibe of the academia.

Alumnus Mr CHOU Sai-kit, Jet

Alumnus Mr CHOU Sai-kit, Jet obtained a Bachelor's degree of Arts in Chinese Humanities in 2008 and currently is the Vice President of HKMUAA. He has won the Hong Kong Chess Individual Championship twice and has represented Hong Kong in international chess competitions. Over the years, he gained the titles of Hong Kong Chess Master, Hong Kong Chess Grandmaster, Asian Chess Grandmaster and International Chess Master. He founded a chess academy in 2021 to nurture the younger generation and pass on his experience, contributing to the development of chess in Hong Kong.

2:00 – 5:00pm
Interactive game booths, mega chess board, chess corner
– Library Tour (Optional) (2:00 – 2:30pm)
– Sharing and introduction to Chinese Chess by Mr Jet Chou (2:30 – 3:00pm)
– Chess Simultaneous Exhibition (3:00 – 4:15pm)

Target:

HKMUAA Members, each member can bring a maximum of 3 guests

Fee:

HK$50 for a basic ticket
*Same price for all ages, this package includes a special souvenir and a game ticket. Each alumni can bring up to 3 guests.

HK$100 for a game seat at the Chess Simultaneous Exhibition
(Each seat can accommodate at most 2 people, limited to 20 groups, first come first served)
