Further honours for graduation project

The project in question, Kin's Hair, has garnered numerous recognitions for its humorous encapsulation of major events in Hong Kong since the handover — through the hair loss of protagonist Kin. Having been nominated for the 55th Golden Horse Award for Best Animated Short Film, it more recently bagged the Gold Award of the Animation category in the 24th ifva Awards (Incubator for Film and Visual Media in Asia) and the Next Generation Award in the 20th DigiCon6 Asia. The film is also among the nine winners of the 3rd Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong Short Film Competition, and on the short list of the South Award at South Taiwan Film Festival 2018.

 

 


 

Industry recognitions for graduates' animation start-ups

The trio's animation start-up, Crow Picture Creations, made it to the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association's Animation Support Program (ASP). They were offered a subsidy of HK$105,000 and training to hone their skills. The support led to a new work entitled 'Rabbit and Bear', which took a Merit Award from the organizer.

Selected for the ASP is another group formed by OUHK graduates, this time alongside two students in Animation and Visual Effects. Their ASP-supported creation is 'The Swing'.

 

 


 

Translation graduate wins scholarship for doctoral studies

Wai-ying, now pursuing a Doctor of Applied Language Sciences at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has been awarded a Humanities Doctoral Scholarship (2018/19) by the same university.

The two Computing graduates, who birthed the crowdsourcing platform Collaction, have recently picked up a Certificate of Merit for the Smart People (Smart Inclusion) Award at Hong Kong ICT Awards 2019. The award came as a token of recognition for their contributions to fostering digital inclusion.

 

 


 

Dissertation on Liberal Studies published

Having passed her viva and gained the degree of Doctor of Education in 2016, Dr Leung went on to polish her dissertation into a book. Published this April, her Aligning Summative Assessment with Curriculum Aims of Liberal Studies in Hong Kong is honoured with a foreword by President Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong, among others.

Now a financial planner, Siu-chung has recently been qualified for Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) membership, a standard of excellence in the insurance industry. He is grateful to his teachers of his alma mater for this achievement, and for the opportunities to participate in workshops and seminars as part of the A-Team while a student at the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration.
