Making 2025 Another Year of Success

Dear Colleagues,

The start of 2025 brings the good news that we successfully acquired Cheung Kei Center in Hung Hom (an eight-minute drive from the main campus and a five-minute drive from MU88). With a total gross floor area of about 280,000 square feet and 155 parking spaces, the building, now renamed MU Tower, will provide quality space to support the long-term development of the University.

Our planning application for the construction of the Hub for Community Health and Wellness (HCHW) was approved in January 2024. Since then, we have been working tirelessly on the land grant for the project site. In June 2024, we appointed the Lead Consultant (Rocco Design Architects Associates Limited) and the Quantity Surveying Consultant (Rider Levett Bucknall Limited) for the HCHW Project. As soon as the land is granted (tentatively in the first quarter of 2025), the construction of the HCHW will begin.

We will also redesign and reconfigure MU88 to provide accommodation for about 450 students. The construction work will start in August 2025 and is expected to be completed by July 2026, so MU88 should be ready for new student residents at the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.

2024 was a remarkable year. HKMU made great strides in student recruitment, student services, academic programme development, research and knowledge transfer endeavours, and campus expansion and enhancement.

In addition to improvements in “hardware”, we will continue to recruit and retain quality faculty and staff and modernise our academic programmes to provide quality education for our students.

To recruit students who can take full advantage of HKMU education, we will accept in our undergraduate programmes only NCEE (gaokao) applicants who attain Tier one level (一本線) in 2025.

2025 promises to be another exciting year for HKMU. Let us work together to create another remarkable year of achievements.
