HKMU Hackathon 2025

HKMU hosted its second HKMU Hackathon on 7 and 8 January, featuring two themes — “Ageing Society” and “Sustainability” — with the aim of inspiring students' creativity and fostering their innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. The winning teams not only received cash prizes but also earned the opportunity to advance to the final round of “MetroChallenge 2025”. Additionally, they will enjoy higher priority in the selection process for internship programmes organised by the Student Affairs Office and will have the chance to be nominated to represent HKMU in other entrepreneurial competitions in Hong Kong and across the Greater Bay Area.

Career Fair 2025

This year's HKMU Career Fair was successfully held from 18 to 20 March, with over 130 enterprises and organisations from more than 30 industries taking part. The fair provided HKMU students with access to more than 3,500 professional job and internship opportunities in Hong Kong and across the Greater Bay Area. For the first time, the event featured the “Professional Bodies” and “GBA Opportunities” zones, which offered students a wider range of career options while promoting internship and entrepreneurial opportunities on the mainland.

Promoting diversity, inclusion and cultural exchange

HKMU promotes diversity, inclusion, and cultural exchange among students through a variety of activities. On 20 February, the Student Affairs Office hosted the Diversity and Inclusion Carnival, where students participated in interactive booths, including a simulated visual impairment experience, sign language learning and Indian henna art. These activities provided students with first-hand insights into diverse cultures and the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and the gender-diverse community in their daily lives, encouraging mutual respect and understanding of one another's differences.

On 24 March, the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration organised the “Cultural Fiesta – Where Music Meets Dance.” The event featured performances by students and faculty staff showcasing music and dances from various cultures, including a guqin solo, Chinese dance, African folk song singing, and Indian Bollywood dance, fostering cultural exchange and appreciation.

HKMUers sweep prizes in charity run

With the generous sponsorship of Dr Peter Lee Kwok-wah, Chairman of the HKMU Foundation Advisory Committee, 79 staff members, students and alumni represented the University in the half marathon and 10 km races of the Community Chest Corporate Challenge 2025. The event aimed to raise funds to enhance rehabilitation and aftercare services supported by The Community Chest. In the Half Marathon, students Cheung Yat-long and Yau Hin-lun were the male champion and first runner-up respectively, and alumna Kan Ming-pui was the female champion. Student Lau Tim-hei won the first runner-up in the male category of the 10K Run.
