Our Mission

As a non-profit organisation rooted in Hong Kong and operating in the Greater Bay Area, the mission of HKMU SZRI is to advance national development strategies through high‑quality scientific research, promote technological innovation, cultivate high‑level scientific talent, and leverage HKMU's strengths in basic and applied research to support the development of the Greater Bay Area and contribute to national socio‑economic development.  Its mission includes the following key objectives:

Advance Research and Innovation

Promote impactful research initiatives and projects, strengthen collaborations between universities and enterprises, and enhance the research and innovation capabilities of enterprises across Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.

Build World-Class Platform

Develop a globally recognised scientific research and technology service platform that integrates top-tier talent recruitment and cultivation, and the transformation of innovative achievements.

Lead Environmental Research

Establish a globally leading research team focused on basic and applied studies of mangroves and coastal wetlands, driving sustainable development in environmental health research.

Innovate in Healthcare

Actively advance healthcare research driven by artificial intelligence and big data, addressing the needs of the Greater Bay Area.

Pioneer Smart City Solutions

Conduct interdisciplinary research on smart city technologies, explore innovative pathways to enhance urban efficiency and improve resident experiences, and implement sustainable urban development concepts.
