The V-Power Volunteer Team was established by the School of Open Learning at Hong Kong Metropolitan University in the 2022/23 academic year. Our mission is to provide a platform for distance-learning and part-time students to apply their knowledge in service of the community, developing both personal growth and social impact through meaningful volunteer experiences.
We are dedicated to uniting students to promote community engagement and volunteer activities, enabling them to actively participate in public service alongside their studies while cultivating a sense of responsibility and compassion. The team has organized a wide range of activities, including educational outreach, environmental protection, elderly care, and support for disadvantaged groups—allowing students to grow through service and bring positive energy to society.
We believe that every contribution can make a difference. Through diverse volunteer initiatives, we aim to build a caring and supportive community and promote sustainable development.
1. Enrich Life Experiences and Develop Skills
By participating in volunteer activities and training, students gain diverse experiences, enhance problem-solving abilities, and leverage personal strengths to support holistic growth.
2. Develop Character and Social Responsibility
By serving underprivileged groups—including the elderly, ethnic minorities, and individuals with special needs, students will develop a deeper understanding of social issues, strengthening their empathy and social responsibility.
3. Build Networks and Team Cohesion
Our activities facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration, allowing students to form valuable connections, share insights, and enhance their ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
4. Promote Diversity and Inclusion
By engaging with individuals from varied racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, students learn to appreciate differences and cultivate a mindset of mutual respect, tolerance, and global citizenship.
5. Strengthen Connection to HKMU
Representing Hong Kong Metropolitan University as part of V-Power allows students to build pride and reinforce their identity as valued members of the HKMU community.
The V-Power Volunteer Team has established close partnerships with NGOs, charitable organizations, and community groups, covering areas such as education, environmental protection, elderly care, and support for disadvantaged communities.
We firmly believe that cross-sector collaboration can amplify impact and provide more comprehensive support and positive change for society, making volunteer services deeper and broader in scope.
