On 7 February 2026, the Volunteer-Power Team, together with volunteers from the Martha Boss Lutheran Community Centre, visited the Sik Sik Yuen Ho Chui District Community Centre to organise the “Lunar New Year Board Game Fun Day.” The event attracted 20 elderly participants, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere filled with festive joy as the Lunar New Year approached.

At the beginning of the activity, Volunteer-Power members helped facilitate an ice‑breaking game, where the elderly guessed items commonly seen in old Hong Kong from blurred images, such as kerosene stoves and old-style theme park attractions. The members took this opportunity to engage with the elderly, build relationships, and encourage them to actively participate in the games. The elderly responded enthusiastically, sharing stories from their younger days and making the atmosphere increasingly warm and engaging.

After the icebreaking game, members guided the elderly through various board games, assisting them in understanding the rules and patiently encouraging their participation. The games involved simple calculations, allowing the elderly to enjoy the fun of “play × brain exercise.”

Towards the end of the event, members distributed handwritten Lunar New Year couplets prepared by DL students to each participant, adding a festive and thoughtful touch. The members also took the time to chat with the elderly and learn about their recent lives, allowing them to enjoy a rare moment of social interaction in a cheerful atmosphere.
