Following the successful Chinese Calligraphy Workshop held last year, in celebration of the Year of the Horse, the School of Open Learning once again organised the “Dance Your Ink, Greet the Spring: Pen Your Own New Year Couplets” activity, inviting students to join in writing New Year Couplets. The event was successfully held on 6 February 2026, drawing enthusiastic participants.
During the event, students learnt proper calligraphy techniques under the instructor’s detailed instructions. After the practice session, students unfolded the red paper and wrote down their New Year blessings. Meanwhile, many participants responded to the School's call by donating their couplets to the V-Power volunteer team for distribution to the local elderly the following day. The instructor also wrote unique couplets for each participant on the spot, allowing them to take home these blessed works to welcome the Year of the Horse.
Participants said they greatly benefited from the experience. In addition to calming their minds through calligraphy, they also shared blessings and warmth with the community, making the experience even more meaningful.
