The “Effective Workplace Communication: Building Your Professional Influence Workshop” organised by the School of Open Learning, was successfully held on 14 April 2026, drawing a diverse group of students and alumni from various professional backgrounds, all eager to master the art of effective communication in the workplace.

During the workshop, the instructor introduced techniques for communicating and presenting to people with different personalities, as well as strategies for navigating challenging conversational situations. Participants learned how to approach diverse communication scenarios with diplomacy, avoiding common pitfalls to achieve clear, impactful dialogue. This was followed by a hands-on breakout session where groups analysed real-world case studies and shared their insights. With real-time feedback from the instructor, participants were able to reinforce their skills through practical application, significantly enhancing their learning experience.

After the event, participants expressed their appreciation, noting that they had greatly benefited from the workshop. Not only was the event's content tailored to the participants' needs, but it also inspired them to think from different perspectives, which made a huge difference in tackling communication barriers and enhancing persuasiveness in the workplace.
