The “Round and Round: Creative Tangyuan Workshop,” organised by the School of Open Learning, was held successfully on 28 February 2026. Centred on handcrafting creative Tangyuan, the workshop attracted many students, along with their families and friends. In a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, participants immersed themselves in the Lunar New Year's festive spirit and celebrated the upcoming Lantern Festival.
At the start of the workshop, the instructor demonstrated techniques for kneading dough, mixing colours, and shaping the sweet dumpling. Participants were encouraged to unleash their creativity and craft their own unique Tangyuan. To match the festive themes, participants poured their hearts into creating a variety of vibrant, cartoon-inspired Tangyuan, ranging from adorable ponies and smiling animals to traditional festive motifs. The venue was filled with laughter and a shared sense of accomplishment as students exchanged creative ideas and admired each other's handiwork.
Upon completing the workshop, students took their handmade creations home to share with their families, extending the warmth and joy of the festival into their households. Many participants expressed that the workshop was both fun and festive, offering a memorable opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends at the start of a busy new term.
