Chinese Calligraphy Workshop – Exploring the Treasured Art of Mindfulness and Traditional Culture

Calligraphy Class

The “Chinese Calligraphy Workshop” organised by the School of Open Learning was successfully held on 26 November 2025, drawing enthusiastic participants.

At the beginning of the workshop, the instructor introduced and demonstrated the fundamentals of Chinese calligraphy, including the correct form for holding the calligraphy brush and the techniques for writing different strokes. Then, students practised the techniques by following the instructor’s guidance and made an exclusive wooden-framed artwork as a souvenir. The instructor also wrote a variety of calligraphy pieces on the spot, allowing each participant to leave with a personalized artwork.

Students who attended the workshop expressed that they greatly benefited from the experience. Not only did they find peace and relaxation through focused calligraphy practice, but they also expanded their social circles by exchanging ideas on the art of calligraphy with other participants. The event added a fulfilling and meaningful dimension to their campus life.
