To foster interaction and connection among HKMU alumni and students, the School of Open learning partnered with “Bee Tales” to jointly organize the “Handcraft Workshop: DIY Your Honey Lip Balm.” The event was successfully held on November 8, 2025, attracting students, their friends and family with an interest in handmade crafts and environmental conservation.

During the event, Ms. Jill Kong, an alumna of HKMU and the founder of “Bee Tales,” shared insights into Hong Kong’s beekeeping culture and the importance of bee conservation. She also provided hands-on guidance, helping participants create their own unique, natural honey lip balms using pure ingredients. Under Jill’s instruction, everyone successfully crafted personalized lip balms.

As a fellow alumna, Jill also shared her entrepreneurial journey—from her initial exposure to beekeeping to turning her passion for bees and bee-related products into a sustainable business. She openly discussed the challenges and opportunities she encountered along the way, offering participants a realistic and multifaceted perspective on starting a business.

Participants expressed that they gained valuable knowledge and experience from the workshop and look forward to more future events that combine creativity with environmental awareness.
