On July 28, to commend the diligent efforts of the V-Power volunteer team throughout the year, School of Open Learning (SOL) held a grand recognition ceremony at Serena Yang Lecture Theatre of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU). Over 40 V-Power members and their families and friends gathered together to share this memorable moment.

Ms Kobe Lo, Manager of SOL, first reviewed the various major events organized by V-Power in the past year through a video, including Orientation Day for distance learning students, traceless hiking, Christmas caroling, visits to elderly centers and Hong Chi Pinehill School, etc., and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the members’ selfless dedication and contribution. Prof Reggie Kwan, Vice President of HKMU, Dr KC Li, Dean of SOL, and professors from different schools also attended the event and presented the gold, silver and bronze awards to the outstanding V-Power members.

Two award winner representatives, Bonnie and Peter, also shared their experiences and insights from participating in volunteer work. Everyone said this grand recognition ceremony would further strengthen their motivation and cohesion to engage in volunteer services.

In the coming new academic year, SOL looks forward to more distance learning students joining the V-Power volunteer team to contribute to the community.
