Through partnering with different NGOs and external organizations, 3 service teams were initiated under the programme to unleash students’ potentials and help contribute their knowledge by serving over 2000 people and animals in various vulnerable groups, including the elderly, animals and families in sub-divided units. The programme aimed to encourage students’ community engagement, nurture their positive personality traits and bring positive impact to the community. Apart from a series of training and services, students drew the plan and executed their empowerment projects to facilitate their learning about specific social issues.

Student Reflections

Hearing others' experiences is not only a pleasure but also a source of inspiration. It helps me appreciate the wonderful connections between people and has also realize that some of the individuals I serve may only meet for a few times in their entire lives. Therefore, I must cherish this bond and do my best to bring them joy and warmth.

This experience not only taught me cooking skills but also deepened my appreciation for the warmth and care between people. It reminded me to cherish time with family and highlighted the importance of caring for the elderly. Their memories and stories are invaluable treasures that deserve our attention and preservation. I hope to join more activities like this in the future to bring warmth and joy to the elderly.

The experience revealed that most animals can recover and become lively and trusting with dedicated care. It inspired me to adopt a stray cat and witness its transformation from fearful to loving.

Joining this programme deepened my understanding that caring for abandoned animals requires not just “liking” but true “love,” inspiring me to sponsor a cat in SAA and advocate for animal welfare and right to support more animals and raise awareness.

Through a series of guided tours, I had the chance to explore Hong Kong with the kids and learn about its history and culture, which was truly eye-opening. Planning a tour with my team and acting as the docent gave me a huge sense of achievement.

This meaningful programme not only brought me closer to the children but also offered a new perspective on Hong Kong culture and enhanced my self-understanding.
