"Cane-A-Thon" - International White Cane Day 2023

Through the celebration of the International White Cane Day, Hong Kong Blind Union aims to raise public awareness of visual impairment and co-create an equal participation independent environment in our community.

We believe that the visually impaired can contribute themselves in our society. They are capable of serving and realising their dreams.

  1. Visually Impaired Ambassadors for a charity walk of 10.15km

    30 visually impaired ambassadors will walk for 10.15km or 3.5km from our Jockey Club Vocational and Education Resource Center in Kwun Tong, Services Center in Ho Man Tin and HarbourChill in Wan Chai to Central Market respectively showcasing their independent mobility with white canes, funds will also be raised for the Hong Kong Blind Union to support the visually impaired and their families.

    In addition, “White Cane Day Carnival” will be held at Central Market in the afternoon, including game booths, blindfold experiences and braille workshops. Grab a chance to interact with the visually impaired and experience their daily life challenges!

  2. How can the public participate?

    From now on, anyone who donates HKD $200 or above can register to participate in the “Cane-A-Thon” charity walk through the link provided below. After completing the walk, each participant will receive a certificate of appreciation and a pack of souvenir.
