Introduction to the “Innovation in Practice, Exploring History” 2025–2026 Exchange Programme

This exchange programme aims to deepen Hong Kong youths' understanding of Chinese traditional culture by visiting historic and culturally significant cities, touring renowned museums with extensive and rich collections, and participating in a variety of local cultural activities. Through immersive and interactive experiences, participants will gain a more vivid impression of the nation's heritage. All applicants are required to reflect on the significance of the exchange prior to departure and take part in the programme with a thoughtful mindset. To benefit more young people, the programme is open to Hong Kong youth aged 18 to 35. All participants must undergo an interview, and a total of 60 members will be selected.

Upon returning to Hong Kong, the programme will organise talks or workshops featuring entrepreneurs and prominent community figures, who will share insights into the current landscape and development of the innovation and technology sector in Hong Kong. These sessions aim to help participants understand the pathways to professional success and identify their own direction. In addition, the programme plans to introduce a “learning companion scheme”, pairing participants with local youth organisations and university students to foster cultural exchange. At the end of each annual programme, an alumni association will be established to maintain long-term connections through regular online meetings, helping Hong Kong youth expand their networks in the Mainland.

“Innovation in Practice · Exploring History” 2025–2026 Northeast China Exchange Programme

The Northeast region is an important birthplace of China's modern industry and aerospace development, combining profound historical culture with strong scientific and technological innovation capabilities. This exchange programme will visit multiple cities, allowing participants to experience distinctive urban culture through landmarks such as Saint Sophia Cathedral and Central Avenue, and to learn about China's achievements in the aerospace field at Harbin Institute of Technology and its aerospace museum. The programme will also include visits to the “Exhibition Hall of Evidence of Crimes by Unit 731” and the 9.18 History Museum, enabling participants to reflect on painful history, cherish peace, and deepen their sense of national identity through the lens of urban development, humanity and historical change.

Participants will further visit significant sites of China's equipment manufacturing and industrial development, including the Hongqi Culture Exhibition Hall, modern production lines, and aviation manufacturing facilities, gaining insights into China's journey from early industrialisation to independent innovation. The programme also includes exchanges with local youth and cultural experiences such as Harbin Ice and Snow World, allowing participants to appreciate the unique role and vitality of Northeast China in national development from multiple perspectives—technology, industry and culture.
