There have been internationally recognised databases and indexes for assessing the quality of academic journals. Below are major established ones which cover journals published in English or Chinese. These resources can be used as a reference, while journals not listed in them should be assessed on a case-by-case basis, considering the overall merit of their content.

For journals in English:

‌Journal Citation Reports (Science Edition and Social Sciences Edition)
This resource allows evaluating and comparing journals using citation data drawn from scholarly and technical journals indexed in the Web of Science.

Scopus
This is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, covering scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.

For journals in Chinese:

Compiled by Peking University, this index is one of the most prestigious journal indexes for journals published in Chinese..
‌Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI)
This index provides bibliographic information and cited references of articles in core humanities and social sciences journals in Chinese.
‌Taiwan Citation Index – Humanities and Social Sciences (TCI-HSS)
This journal citation index is based on the contents of Taiwan Social Sciences Citation Index (TSSCI) and Taiwan Humanities Citation Index (THCI).
