Financial Support for Research Paper Publication

Office of Research Affairs and Knowledge Transfer Financial Support for Research Paper Publication

The University offers financial support for language editing and publication fees of journal articles and edited book chapters. The financial support aims to encourage staff to actively participate in research activities and publication of their findings, so as to enhance their professional and academic standing and help them to gain recognition for their scholarly works.

The financial support is provided through the School Research Support Fund under individual School budgets. Colleagues who wish to apply for the financial support may contact your School office or consult your School Dean for details, including eligibility of applicants, coverage of language editing and publication fees, maximum support, and application procedures.

Avoiding predatory journals or publishers
As there are now a large number of fake, unrecognized or predatory publishers, colleagues are strongly encouraged to be vigilant when selecting publishers to publish their research articles. If any academic puts an article published with such a publisher in his or her curriculum vitae, s/he draws serious doubts on his/her credentials and may get into serious trouble. Academics are reminded to be especially careful if the publisher asked for a publication fee, though many respectable publishers also charge publication fees. The following link provides useful information for identifying/avoiding predatory journals or publishers.
