Subject to the latest announcement by the UniversityThis programme is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the medical laboratory field upon graduation. It offers comprehensive academic and professional training in medical laboratory science, adhering to the standards set forth by the Hong Kong Medical Laboratory Technologists Board. The programme is supported by Education Bureau under “Enhancement and Start-up Grant Scheme”. The accreditation process for the programme by the Board is currently in progress, with the initial assessment visit by the Board's assessment panel having been completed on 3 July 2025.

The field of medical laboratory science is comprised of five major disciplines: clinical hematology and transfusion science, clinical chemistry and immunology, medical microbiology, anatomical and cellular pathology, and molecular diagnostics. Other sub-specialties within the five main disciplines are taught and trained throughout the curriculum as well.
Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to an admission interview. Passing this interview is essential for the application to be deemed successful.

To earn the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Medical Laboratory Science (BSCHMLS), students must complete 135 credit-units of prescribed courses.

Remarks: The programme structure is subject to timely review
The professional programme is structured to meet the accreditation criteria established by the Hong Kong Medical Laboratory Technologists Board.
To be eligible for registration as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the Board, students are required to achieve a grade of C or higher in all the core courses in the programme upon graduation.
