Career Prospects & Professional Recognition

The programme will seek accreditation by the Radiographers Board (RGB), the Supplementary Medical Professions Council. Upon successful accreditation, graduates of the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Diagnostic Radiography will be eligible to register as Radiographers (Diagnostic Part 2) “放射技師(診斷類第二部份)” under Section 12(1)(a) of the Supplementary Medical Professions Ordinance and with the Radiographers Board of Hong Kong.

Graduates have a range of professional pathways (after registration) and options for further studies available:

  • Diagnostic Ultrasonographer: Graduates can pursue a Master of Science in Diagnostic Ultrasonography through a bachelor-master (4+1 years) which is recognised by the Hong Kong College of Radiographers and Radiation Therapists, and accredited to be a Certified Ultrasonographer in Hong Kong.
  • Advanced Practice Diagnostic Radiographer: With increasing clinical experience and academic achievement, graduates can progress to become Advanced Practice Diagnostic Radiographers.
  • Senior or Chief Radiographer: Graduates can advance their careers by managing and operating a department.
  • Further Studies: Graduates are able to pursue further studies in overseas Master's Degree or local Master's programmes, such as the Master of Science in Diagnostic Ultrasonography offered by HKMU and the Master of Science in Medical Imaging and Radiation Science, and Master of Medical Imaging programmes at other local universities.
