The 2-year part-time top-up programme provides a direct articulation path for occupational safety and health (OSH) Diploma holders or equivalent e.g. Registered Safety Officer (RSO). The programme aims to provide a coherent body of theoretical and applied professional knowledge relevant to the area of occupational safety, health and environment (OHSE) at degree level. Upon completion, graduates of this programme will be eligible to apply for the Graduate Membership of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Grad IOSH), United Kingdom.
The programme provides a coherent body of theoretical and applied professional knowledge at degree level. Specifically, it aims to:
Prepare students for a career in occupational safety and health through the development of knowledge, understanding and the application of practical and professional skills necessary for future practice and in so doing develop an informed, critical and imaginative attitude towards professional practice.
Facilitate development of competence in future practice through alignment with professional standards in occupational safety and health and specifically those from the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health and their requirements for Initial Professional Development.
Develop a holistic understanding of the scientific, legislative, policy, technical and managerial skills on which to base future competence in relation to occupational safety and health.
Provide students with a critical awareness of the role of external and internal drivers for safety and health improvement; development of safety cultures; active communication/involvement; management and leadership for safety and health and role of risk based management and methods including enhanced abilities to critically appraise risk in a variety of complex situations and design and implement management solutions to reduce risk.
Provide skills in design and conduct of research.
Prepare students with the skills and intellectual tools to carry out further study.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to:
Select or design, apply and evaluate, autonomously, a range of inspection, auditing and investigation techniques and be able to develop action plans and programmes for safety and health improvement.
Critically appraise guidance, legislation and complex data and successfully communicate their implications to a wide range of personnel.
Make decisions, recommendations and articulate solutions on a proposed course of action in relation to OHSE problems to managers, safety representatives and enforcement bodies in a professional manner.
Reflect on own professional practice and select from a range of options, the best methods and mechanisms to manage OHSE and influence others to achieve best practice.
Problem-solve, prioritise and communicate solutions at both an individual problem level and within the context of a range of problems.
Undertake a substantial academic investigation and effectively communicate the findings.
Critically appraise risk perception influences of human and organisational behaviour, risk management and risk analysis.
Work within teams to problem solve and improve safety and health practice.
Appreciate ethical problems associated with working with people and clients.
Operate successfully in a culturally diverse and globally oriented society.

Graduates are eligible to apply for the Graduate Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Grad IOSH), United Kingdom.
Further Studies
Graduates can further pursue various Master's degrees to achieve their personal plans. They can also enroll in the Professional Certificate in Safety Auditing offered by LiPACE to meet the academic requirement to be a Registered Safety Auditor to further develop their career in OHS.
Career Prospect
Graduates will be eligible to apply for senior positions such as Senior Safety Officer and Safety Manager. They can also perform safety audit works if they will be Registered Safety Auditors.

Graduates of LiPACE’s PDPOHS Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent; or

Middlesex University Scholarship
Award Format and Value
In order to encourage Year 1 students to achieve good academic results in their Year 1 studies of Middlesex University’s PUGOSH Bachelor of Science with Honours in Occupational Safety and Health Management programme offered by HKMU LiPACE, the Asia Pacific Regional Hub of the Middlesex University has generously pledged an annual scholarship of HKD $30,000 in Academic Year 2021/2022. Up to SIX awards will be made. The value of each award shall be HKD $5,000.

Financial Assistance
The Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) is administered by the Student Finance Office (SFO) under the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (WFSFAA). ENLS provides non-means-tested loan(s) to eligible students to settle tuition fees.

Q. What is the final award of the Hong Kong degree programme?
A:The BSc (Hons) in Occupational Safety and Health Management" will be conferred by Middlesex University, UK.
Q: I’m not a graduate of LiPACE’s Diploma/ Professional Diploma in OHS, am I eligible to apply for admission to this BSc OSH programme?
A: If the applicant’s qualification is considered to be equivalent to that of the graduates of LiPACE’s Diploma/Professional Diploma in OHS, then (s)he will be admitted to the programme. Nevertheless, the applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
Q: I’m a RSO and am considering the re-register process. Can I take this programme and then get CPD?
A: students are required to complete the course/ programme in order to earn the CPD hours
Q: May I request any loan from government or bank to pay the programme fee? If yes, how?
A: Extended Non-means Tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) from Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (WFSFAA). Students required to pay $5,000 deposit before start of the programme. Loan application process takes about 8-10 weeks. Students will receive a cheque and submit it to HKMU. Please refer to its website for details
