Biography
CHAU Ka Wan, Tracy is a Lecturer (Music) at the Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE). She began her musical journey at the age of six. After graduating from The University of Hong Kong with a major in music, she built extensive experience teaching students from ages 2 to 80 as a piano and theory teacher, early childhood music educator, and conductor for children's and adult amateur choirs.
In Hong Kong, her foundational piano studies were shaped by local mentors, including Mr. Nakatsu Fumitake and Ms. Nina Tom. Driven by a passion for comprehensive music education, Tracy later undertook over three years of advanced study in Hungary at the prestigious Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, where she earned the MA in Kodály Music Pedagogy. Her research focused on adapting pedagogical methods to local contexts, culminating in a thesis titled "Piano Pedagogy in the Context of Hong Kong: The Balance of Knowledge, Technique and Musicality."
During her time in Hungary, her musicianship was rigorously developed under the guidance of renowned mentors, including solfège training with Ms. Katalin Körtvesi; choral conducting with Dr. Anna Füri and Madam Éva Rozgonyi; methodology with Ms. Borbála Szirányi and Dr. Dávid Farkasházi; piano and pedagogy with Dr. Zsuzsanna Takáts and Ms. Anikó Novák; and voice with Dr. María Lökösházi. Her conducting development was further enriched through international mastercourses, including the International Choral Conductors Mastercourses in Szeged (2023, 2025), where she worked with the Bartók Female Choir, and the Advanced Conducting Course at the Kodály Institute.
Active as both a singer and conductor, she has performed with ensembles such as the Kodály Institute Choir, the Bartók Female Choir, the female vocal ensemble Tulipán, and the student-led choir Doppler.
