Hong Kong Metropolitan University Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKMU LiPACE) has launched the five-month long “International Lifelong Learning Festival”, to provide students with immersive learning experiences about international cultures. This initiative aims to provide students with immersive learning experiences about “internationalization-in-place”, “intercultural awareness”, and “inclusiveness” as the fundamental elements of co-curricular learning.

Following the successful launched of its collaboration with the Consulates General of Finland, Zimbabwe, and Egypt, HKMU LiPACE is pleased to continue this initiative with Hungary. The fourth significant event in this series is entitled “I am Dreaming of a Hungarian Christmas”.

On December 10, 2024, Mr. Zoltán Páldi, Consul and Trade Commissioner of the Consulate General of Hungary in Hong Kong, and Ms. Krisztina Berkeszi, in charge of Cultural, Educational, and Sports Affairs of the Consulate General of Hungary in Hong Kong, visited LiPACE and shared insights into the fascinating Hungarian Christmas traditions with students. Ms. Krisztina Berkeszi, the instructor for the baking workshop, joined LiPACE students in preparation of Mézeskalács, a traditional Hungarian Christmas treat. In addition to sampling a variety of Hungarian delicacies, participants engaged in the collective decoration of a Christmas tree with Hungarian-themed ornaments. The students and participants had the opportunity to engage in experiential learning about Eastern European culture and enjoyed the festive Christmas ambience in advance.

The “International Lifelong Learning Festival” offers a variety of activities that provide participants with a cultural adventure, including the opportunity to explore different countries through films and books, as well as to savor authentic cuisine. Each event in the series has been well-received, with high levels of enthusiastic participation.

The “International Lifelong Learning Festival” will host more events about Japan (7 & 14 December), and India (21 January 2025). Further information will be available on the institute's website:
