If you are interested in exploring your creativity, design and make stuff, you should visit our Library Makerspace on the second floor of Stanley Ho Library in the Main Campus. It offers high-performance workstations and 3D printing equipment and more that you can use to create and innovate. The Makerspace is also a place where you can work with others, share ideas and learn new skills.

Access & Service Hours

All of our Makerspace services and equipment are available to HKMU Staff, HKMU active students or LiPACE students of eligible programmes who have campus library access privilege.
Users can reserve the equipment via the Library Online Booking System. Each set of equipment (i.e. one workstation and one 3D printer) can be reserved for up to a maximum of 4 hours per day per user.
All users need to check-in their booking at the Service Counter of the Stanley Ho Library in person with valid library card.

Service Hours

The Makerspace opens during Stanley Ho Library opening hours.
Consultation services will be available at the Service Counter of the Stanley Ho Library during 9:30 to 18:30 Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays). It may offer limited services during revision and examination period.

Rules and Regulations

The Makerspace is a collaborative space where users can engage in conversations and exchange ideas. However, please be mindful of the noise level and avoid disturbing other library users.
Users should follow the safety rules and operational guidelines when using the equipment. The Library will not be liable for any loss or damage to the equipment or works.
Due to the capability of the current printers, they cannot process print objects that take more than 4 hours to complete or with dimensions exceed 150 mm x 150 mm x 150 mm. If you need to print a large object, you may consider separating your model into several smaller ones.
Users are responsible for the data generation and backup. The Library will not be responsible for any loss of data in the Workstations and 3D Printers.
Please respect the equipment provided by the Makerspace and do not damage them. Any violation of the Library Regulations will be reported to the relevant authorities for further action.
Please keep Makerspace tidy and clean. Do not leave any personal belongings behind when you leave the area.
The Library reserves the right to allocate any available equipment to users, or remove equipment from service as needed such as maintenance purposes and events.

Content and Use Limitations

The Makerspace is a resource for lawful and ethical projects only. Users must respect the intellectual property rights of others and not infringe on any copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets or other proprietary rights of third parties. Users must not use the 3D printing equipment to create any objects that pose a risk to anyone’s safety, such as weapons.
The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D printing service request. Users are also fully responsible for any legal consequences arising from the printing or objects.
