Looking for a job or an internship? The “Career Education Programme” of Student Affairs Office (SAO) offers a lot of services and training workshops to help you, such as career interest and values assessment, cover letter and résumé writing workshop, mock interview workshop and much more!
The Library can give you a hand too! You can find resources such as books, e-books and databases on writing cover letter and résumé, getting prepared for your interview, and learning more about your future employer.

Finding company information

Impressed your interviewers with your knowledge of the company!  To find company information, you may explore the company’s website and read its annual report. Go further and search our subscribed databases too! Our databases will let you know beyond the basic, for example, the company’s latest business news and major competitors!

Factiva – finding global companies and news
 
This database provides company overview and news information.  You can use it to research global companies.  To start with, you can use the “Company” search under “Companies/Markets” on the top menu to find a company quickly.  Select “Industry” search under “Companies/Markets” on the top menu to learn more about a specific industry quickly.
Passport – finding global companies and industries
 
You can find company profiles in this database.  You can also search by industries to learn more about the development of the industry you want to join.  Start searching with “Companies” on the top menu.  Explore information on an industry with “Industries”, select a consumer product, then start searching.
 
Wisenews – finding local listed companies and news
 
You can find company profile, company structure, financial highlights and business news of Hong Kong listed companies in this database.  You can select “Wisers Information Portal” > “Databases” > “Wise Search” > “Company Search” to find the information on the company you are looking for.
InfoBank – finding China listed companies and news
 
If you want to find information and news on companies in China, you can try to find them in Infobank.  Infobank provides seven Chinese language databases. Select “China Listed Company” and you can find news, announcements, reports and financial information of listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen.

There are other databases on finding company information and business news available in the E-Library.  You can find them from the A-Z database list, then select “Company & financial data” under “Types”.

Net Languages

Our subscribed database Net Languages provides 9 different work-related modules based on different business activities such as applying for a job, making and receiving phone calls at work, arranging meetings and reporting in a meeting, making presentation, negotiating and selling, receiving guests, etc. You can also have a quick review of business vocabulary and practise formal writing in this database.
