Facilities Management Office Projects Completed Development Main Campus (Phase One)

In April 1996, the former Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong (OLI) moved to its permanent campus in Ho Man Tin.  Located at 30 Good Shepherd Street, Ho Man Tin, the purpose-built campus provides a permanent home for the students and staff of the former OLI.

The campus comprises a twin tower structure which has been designed with as few barriers as possible in keeping with the flexible learning environment.  An 8-storey study block is linked to a 13-storey office tower and has a total gross floor area of approximately 20,000 square metres. The building, in accordance with the requirements of HK BEAM (Document No. 2/96) for existing office premises, had attained the HK-BEAM rating of Excellent.

The building comprises such facilities as library, computer laboratory, audio-visual centre, language laboratory, lecture theatres, science laboratories, tutorial rooms, and disabled students' centre.  With the official launch of the Electronic Library in November 1998, the students of the OUHK have easy access, from anywhere they want, to data equivalent to over 500,000 volumes of publications.  The new facilities and equipment, coupled with the flexibility of distance education system, provide an ideal learning environment for adult students in Hong Kong.
