A BEng Lang (Hons) student CHAN Tuen-lai has attained an outstanding achievement in the “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition 2020 (Hong Kong Region – University Category) organised by the China Daily Group. The competition included a preliminary round, a semi-final and a final. This year’s competition attracted thousands of students from universities, primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong.

Thirteen contestants from six universities participated in the semi-final, speaking on the theme of “What global citizenship means to me” and expressing their views on issues such as global warming, pollution and gender equality. 5 of them got into the final and after some intense competition comprising a prepared speech, an impromptu speech and a Q&A session, our student won the First Runner-up Prize and the Best Manner Award.
