Summer English Bootcamp 2026 - School of Education and Languages

In this one-day English Bootcamp designed exclusively for students joining HKMU this year, you will get to see some fresh faces as we encourage you to use English through a selection of fun activities and give you an introduction to some key skills you will need for your university studies!

* Please note:

This activity does not count for credit and is not mandatory. It is a relaxed English learning activity; we aim to provide our incoming Freshmen with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with an English learning environment before starting their studies.
Throughout the entire training camp, we will communicate mostly in English. Students need to be willing to listen to and speak English.

We have three dates for you to choose from: Aug 26, Aug 27, or Aug 28. The content of each date is the same, so please select a date that you will be free to join!

10:00 – 10:45	Icebreaker Activities: Join fun group games to warm up and connect with other students!
10:45 – 11:45	Essay Writing 101: Discover the basics of writing essays in English.
12:00– 12:50	Understand References in Writing: Get a basic idea of some referencing styles and why we need to use them.
12:50 – 14:00	Lunch Break
14:00 – 15:00	Read Scripts and Act Out: Join in group script reading activities and act out the scenes together.
15:00 – 15:50	Improve English with AI tools: Discover this trending AI tool to enhance your English skills.
16:00 – 17:15	Master Presentation Skills: Learn quick tips and skills to deliver great presentations during classes.
17:15 – 18:00	Spotlight and Prizes: Showcase your skills in group presentations and win amazing prizes!

Venue of the bootcamp: A0411, The Language Centre, Main Campus.

* Please arrive at the venue 10 – 15 minutes earlier for registration.
* Please note that we will be using English for communication for most of the time during the bootcamp.
