Biography

Dr. Gkoumas Aristeidis has graduated from the Department of Social Policy and Social Anthropology, Panteion University of Athens in 1995, holds a PhD in Tourism Marketing & Branding from the Aegean University, Greece, and a MSc in "Planning, Management and Policy of Tourism from the same institution. Additionally, he received a postgraduate diploma in "Afro-Cuban History and Religion" from the University of Havana, Cuba in 1997 and he graduated from Lori Kaye's Travel Academy in California, USA in 1998.

 Dr. Gkoumas has taught in various Educational Institutions in Greece, Italy, Spain, Canada, Cyprus, Thailand, Taiwan and Mainland China before joining HKMU. He is an active Editorial Board Member in Journal of Management, Economics, and Industrial Organization (JOMEINO) and International Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Management (IJHTM), while he serves as a lifetime Member of Laboratory for Tourism Research & Studies- University of Aegean, Chios-Greece since 2005. In 2020 he was granted the title of Certified Publons Academy Peer Reviewer.

Dr. Gkoumas worked as a tourism expert/consultant at Destination Management Program of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in Madrid, Spain. He participated in more than 15 international projects, transnational collaborations, and research schemes, while his professional network includes various public authorities, and private institutions from all around the world. Dr. Gkoumas publishes frequently in academic journals, whilst he participates in international conferences, seminars and workshops.

His academic interests involve but not limited to tourism ethnographies, MICE, qualitative research in travel and tourism, experiential consumption, tourism soundscapes, e-tourism, mobile/digital technologies in hospitality, tourism marketing and branding, tourism innovation, and leisure studies.
