Minor in Global Studies

About The Programme

The programme will allow students to integrate their outbound international exchange experience into their degree, providing formal recognition and academic structure to their overseas studies. The minor is intended to encourage and support students in pursuing study opportunities abroad, thereby enhancing their global outlook and employability.

Students in this minor programme will also serve as ambassadors for Hong Kong Metropolitan University, reflecting on their role and contributions within the community of the host institution.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)

  1. Develop and demonstrate intercultural competencies by effectively communicating, collaborating, and building relationships in diverse cultural settings.
  2. Critically analyse contemporary social issues from a global perspective, and articulate a sense of social responsibility and global citizenship in response to these issues.
  3. Synthesise and apply the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained from study abroad to their major disciplines and future career endeavours.
  4. Demonstrate personal growth and adaptability by critically reflecting on and articulating the value and challenges of international and intercultural experiences in relation to their academic, professional, and personal development.

Admission Requirements

Students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at HKMU;
  • Have attained a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.3 or above in the academic year preceding the exchange term ; and
  • Receive both a nomination from HKMU and be accepted by, or matched with, a partner institution of HKMU.
