To build a thriving organisation in the current business world — which is filled with ever-changing challenges and complexities — well integrated theoretical and practical skills as well as knowledge from multiple areas and disciplines are indispensable for managers and leaders. This programme aims at equipping students with such skills and knowledge. Interaction and collaboration in the programme further stimulate students' creative and innovative thinking. On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of business and management theories, practice and strategies, and apply these to managing business and non-business entities.

About The Programme

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)

  1. Critically review the development and logic behind the main ideas, frameworks and theories of business and management.
  2. Critically evaluate basic analytical tools of management and apply these tools to make informed judgements.
  3. Make meaningful contributions as a leader and member in a team setting and communicate effectively as a business executive with people from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Use a strategic perspective to manage an organisation effectively within the internal and external environment, taking into account of ethical and sustainability issues.

Entry Requirements

MBAF applicants to the programme must satisfy the following entry requirement:

  • a recognised degree in a business-related area (or its equivalent); OR
  • a recognised degree in a non-business area (or its equivalent), plus at least three years of supervisory/managerial experience; OR
  • a recognised post-secondary qualification at Qualifications Framework Level 4 (or its equivalent), plus at least ten years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • applicants must meet the following English language proficiency requirements if their Bachelor's Degrees or equivalent qualifications did not adopt English as the medium of instruction.

MBAF applicants may also enter the programme through Pathway 1 if he/she meets the following entry requirement:

  • a recognised Master's degree in business or a business-related area (or its equivalent).

Special Entry Route: Applications of non-business degree holders with less than three years of supervisory/managerial experience will also be considered. Instead of 36 credit-units, successful applicants are required to complete 48 credit-units for graduation including a 1-term, 12 credit-unit course, BUS 8008BEF Business Administration Perspectives offered in May / June or a 2-term, 12 credit-unit course, BUS 8028BEF Business Administration Perspectives (Two Terms) offered in September in each year.

Students pursing the MBAF programme through Pathway 1 must complete 18 credit-units from the compulsory course and 6 credit-units from elective courses. (For details of Pathway 1, please refer to the Entry Requirements.)

In addition to the 36 credit-units (or 48 credit-units for Special Entry Route or 24 credit-units for Pathway 1), students will need to complete additional courses required by the School after assessing their academic backgrounds, results in the admission tests, language proficiency and other relevant factors in order to facilitate effective learning of Master's degrees in business-related areas. The specific requirements will be stipulated in the offer letter.

Dual Degree Programme

This programme also forms part of the Dual Degree Programme jointly offered with Toulouse School of Management (TSM), France. Selected students could join a one-year exchange at TSM. Upon graduation, students will receive two Master's degrees:

  • Master of Business Administration at HKMU
  • Master in International Marketing of Innovation at TSM

DURATION OF STUDY

Full-time and part-time students can normally complete the Master of Business Administration programme in 1 year and 2 years respectively. Students admitted through the Special Entry Route will normally start the programme 3 months earlier than other students for taking BUS 8008BEF Business Administration Perspectives.

MODE OF STUDY

The courses in the programme will be taught through face-to-face mode. The programme will accept new students in the Autumn Term only.

LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION

The language of instruction for all courses of the programme is English.

Business Transformation Immersion Programme

In the era of globalisation, market opportunities and business operations are not restricted by national boundaries. In view of this, a Business Transformation Immersion Programme (BTIP) is designed to empower students to effectively handle imminent challenges in the fast-changing markets and workplace, to allow students learn about the latest developments in business transformation, and explore new opportunities. The fees for the BTIP will be HK$56,500^, which do not include air passage, food, accommodation and other incidental expenses. The tuition fees do NOT include the fees for the BTIP. The BTIP is compulsory for full-time students while optional for part-time students.

ADMISSION INTERVIEW ARRANGEMENT

Applicants who are deemed to have fulfilled the entry requirements will be invited to attend an admission interview. The interview will be conducted via Zoom. Candidates may be asked to discuss current affairs and/or case analysis for the assessment of their capabilities, such as analytical skills, adaptability, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and their ability to form logical arguments.
