Biography
Dr. Timothy Olugbenga Akinwande is a highly esteemed researcher and accomplished educator with over a decade of expertise in the built environment sector and academia. He holds a PhD in Real Estate Development from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing knowledge and practice in his field. With more than eight years of teaching experience in the Department of Estate Management at the University of Lagos (Unilag), Dr. Akinwande has made significant contributions to the academic and professional growth of his students, mentoring them in various real estate-related disciplines. Currently, he serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, where he continues to share his wealth of knowledge through courses centered on real estate.
Dr. Akinwande’s professional expertise encompasses teaching, research, analytical and valuation skills, academic consultancy, and community service. His work is guided by a strong dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on Goal 11, which advocates for sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities. He is deeply passionate about addressing the unique challenges faced by developing economies and is a strong proponent of affordable housing initiatives.
As a prolific scholar, Dr. Akinwande has authored numerous research articles addressing critical issues in real estate and has been honored with several prestigious awards and scholarships in recognition of his academic excellence and impactful contributions to the field. He is a Chartered Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), an Associate of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), and a registered member of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON). In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Dr. Akinwande is a talented musician, serving as a lead singer and songwriter for various faith-based organizations. He has composed and performed several inspirational songs that resonate deeply with audiences, spreading messages of hope and encouragement. His diverse talents, coupled with his unwavering dedication to his profession and community, make Dr. Akinwande a truly remarkable and inspiring individual.
