Highlights of the year

International Conference on Open and Innovative Education

The School of Open Learning organised and hosted the three-day International Conference on Open and Innovative Education (ICOIE), which included a special Symposium on Agile-Blended Learning. This 10th anniversary edition focused on major technological advances and breakthroughs that are causing a paradigm shift in contemporary education.

First Entrepreneurship Day

HKMU ran its first-ever Entrepreneurship Day, creating a platform where its students could connect with experienced entrepreneurs and embrace an entrepreneurial spirit. Successful entrepreneurs and industry partners from Cyberport, Education for Good, Fullness Social Enterprises Society, HKAI Lab and Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation shared entrepreneurial strategies at the event with HKMU students and alumni.

32nd Summer Congregation

The University held its 32nd Congregation in the summer of 2023, marking an exciting milestone for the latest cohort of graduates celebrating their academic success. This year represented a meaningful shift in HKMU's tradition with the launch of dual Congregation sessions held in summer and winter, a practice which will continue in the years to come.

Creative Arts Graduation Show 2023

Under the theme “Imagination is Your Playground”, graduating Creative Arts students showcased their wide-ranging talents at the Creative Arts Graduation Show 2023. Artworks including films and animations, advertisements, interactive entertainment and digital art were on display from graduates of five different Creative Arts programmes.

Scholarships and Awards Gala

In recognition of the generous donors that enabled HKMU to award a record total of HK$34 million in scholarships to outstanding students this year, the University hosted a grand Scholarships and Awards Gala. The event brought together over 100 donors and representatives of donor organisations, along with awardees and University management.

New Medical Science Laboratory opened

Another physical milestone was reached with the completion of the University's new Medical Science Laboratory. The 7,000-square-foot facility will support HKMU's new Bachelor of Science with Honours in Medical Laboratory Science programme, with facilities encompassing the five core disciplines covered by the programme.
