Dr Leung is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Surgery). He holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr Leung was Chairman of the Hong Kong Public Doctor's Association and Senior Medical Officer of Department of Surgery in Prince of Wales Hospital. He is now a Legislative Council Member (Medical).

As people always confuse colon cancer with hemorrhoids, Dr Leung will explain the difference between the two at the talk. He will also talk about the causes and the treatment of liver diseases and gallstones.

Specialist doctors shared health tips in three talks organized by the Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit between May and June. About 100 alumni attended each talk.

Legislative Council Member (Medical) and former Senior Medical Officer of the Department of Surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital Dr the Hon Leung Ka-lau presented a talk on 'Away from Colon Cancer' on 28 May. Dr Leung described the causes and treatment of colon cancer and gave an introduction to other digestive system-related conditions such as liver cancer, gallstones and hemorrhoids.

The Alumni Affairs Office recently raised over $144,000 for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide assistance to outstanding or financially needy students. The fund will be matched 100% by the Mr Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund.
