Mr Stephen Lam was the Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong (2011-2012) and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs (2007-2011). He was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) in 2009 and the Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM) in 2012.

Mr Lam joined the Hong Kong Government in 1978 and has served the public for 34 years. Working up from an Administrative Officer, he was steadily promoted to the senior positions such as Director of Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Toronto (1991), Administrative Assistant to the Chief Secretary (1996) and the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Bureau (2002). In 2011, he became the fifth Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government. His experience proves his strong leadership.

Mr Lam was dealt with many controversial policies and major events, including the Handover Ceremony in 1997. Even though he faced huge challenges, he tried his best to implement the policies smoothly. How could he cope with difficulties when he worked under pressure? What is his secret of problem solving?

After retiring from public service, Mr Lam read theology at the University of Oxford. In the talk, he will share how religion helps him face every challenge in his life. He will also share his view on life-long learning and positive thinking.
