The talk will explain the principles of Chinese dietary therapy and offer tips on Chinese dietary therapy in autumn and winter seasons.

The latest fund-raising effort of the Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund has received a positive response. There were totally 66 alumni and students supporting the events and altogether they donated about $112,570. As a token of appreciation, the Alumni Affairs Office invited them to attend three talks, at which volunteer speakers elaborated on the principles of keeping a balanced diet, and shared tips on maintaining good health. Each talk attracted an audience of more than 120 people.

The first talk on the 'Health Preservation via Chinese Dietary Therapy' was conducted by Ms Li Mei Kuen, Assistant Professor of the School of Science and Technology and registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner, on 19 October. Ms Li introduced the 'Five-colour Diet' and said taking food of each of the five different colours (red, yellow, white, black and green) in suitable amounts are good for the corresponding internal organs. For example eating red dates helps to strengthen the heart and taking green vegetable helps to regulate the liver. At the talk, participants learnt more about their health conditions by answering a simple questionnaire. All donations received will go to the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide assistance to outstanding or financially-needed students. The Fund will be matched 100% by the Mr. Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund.
