Dr Lee holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Previously a Professor at CUHK and Lecturer in Social Medicine at Harvard University, Dr Lee is currently in private practice as a specialist in psychiatry.

Dr Lee will talk about the causes of different kinds of addictive behaviors such as addition to video game, internet surfing, tobacco and alcohol, and shopaholics, anorexia and bulimia. He will also explain how the genetic and environmental factors correlate with these behaviours, and will elaborate on the preventive measures.

Specialist doctors shared health tips in three talks organized by the Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit between May and June. About 100 alumni attended each talk.

Psychiatry specialist Dr Dominic Lee Tak-shing gave a presentation on 'How to Treat Addictive Behavour' on 7 June. Though a number of cases, Dr Lee described the causes of addictive behaviours such as excessive drinking, compulsive shopping and abuse of sedative-hypnotic drugs. Explaining how genetic and environmental factors correlated with these behaviours, Dr Lee suggested various preventive measures and elaborated on treatments.

The Alumni Affairs Office recently raised over $144,000 for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide assistance to outstanding or financially needy students. The fund will be matched 100% by the Mr Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund.
