Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Testing and Certification, Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification, and Master of Science in Testing and Certification

 

1. General
1.1 These regulations are made under paragraph 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates.
1.2 In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
1.3 The Regulations Governing the Articulation of Qualifications shall apply for conversion of the Postgraduate Cerificate in Testing and Certification, and Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification to the award of Master of Science in Testing and Certification.
1.4 A student shall complete the Postgraduate Cerificate in Testing and Certification or Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification or Master of Science in Testing and Certification within six years of first enrolling in the programme.
2. Entry Requirements
2.1 To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Testing and Cerification or Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification or the Master of Science in Testing and Certification programme, a student shall normally possess:
  2.1.1 a recognized Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent; or
  2.1.2 a recognized Master’s degree plus at least two years of technical experience in testing and certification related industry; or
  2.1.3 a recognized Bachelor’s degree plus at least four years of technical experience in testing and certification related industry.
3. Postgraduate Certificate in Testing and Certification (PCTCF) (See Note 1)
3.1 To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Testing and Certification, a student shall:
  3.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  3.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
  3.1.3 obtain at least 20 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the postgraduate certificate for which notice has been given.
3.2 For the Postgraduate Certificate in Testing and Certification, the University has prescribed that a student must:
  3.2.1 successfully complete 20 credits from the courses labelled PC in Table 1; and
4. Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification (PDTCF) (See Note 1)
4.1 To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification, a student shall:
  4.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  4.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
  4.1.3 obtain at least 40 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the postgraduate diploma for which notice has been given.
4.2 For the Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification, the University has prescribed that a student must:
  4.2.1 successfully complete 20 credits from the courses labelled PC in Table 1; and
  4.2.2 successfully complete 20 credits from the courses labelled PD in Table 1.
5. Master of Science in Testing and Certification (MSCTCF) (See Note 1)
5.1 To be eligible for the award of the Master of Science in Testing and Cerification, a student shall:
  5.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  5.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
  5.1.3 obtain at least 60 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the master of science degree for which notice has been given.
5.2 For the Master of Science in Testing and Certification, the University has prescribed that a student must:
  5.2.1 successfully complete 20 credits from the courses labelled PC in Table 1; and
  5.2.2 successfully complete 20 credits from the courses labelled PD in Table 1; and
  5.2.3 successfully complete 10 credits from any of the elective courses labelled PMC in Table 1; and
  5.2.4
successfully complete 10 credits from TC S888F Research Project in Testing and Certification labelled PMP in Table 1.

Notes:

  1. The programmes of Postgraduate Certificate in Testing and Certification, Postgraduate Diploma in Testing and Certification, and Master of Science in Testing and Certification has been phased out with effect from 2018 Autumn term. The last conferment of the above programmes will be 2023 Autumn term.
