Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Studies

1. General
1.1 These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates.
1.2 In these regulations, definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
   
1.3 A student shall complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Studies within 6 years of first enrolling in the programme.
   
2. Entry Requirements
2.1 To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Studies, a student shall have obtained:
  2.1.1 a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science (Biology and Chemistry) offered by the OUHK, or equivalent; or
  2.1.2 a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science (Energy and Environmental Management for Buildings and Facilities) offered by the OUHK, or equivalent; or
  2.1.3 a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies offered by the OUHK, or equivalent; or
  2.1.4 any recognized Bachelor of Science degree offered by a local or overseas institution, or equivalent professional qualification, which is relevant to Environmental Studies or Health and Safety; or
  2.1.5 a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in any discipline; or
  2.1.6 a degree, or equivalent, in any discipline plus at least two years of demonstrable experiences in environmental protection, public health, occupational safety or relevant disciplines; or
  2.1.7 a recognized academic qualification of higher diploma or associate degree level, or equivalent, plus at least six years of demonstrable experiences in environmental protection, public health, occupational safety or relevant disciplines.
   
   
3. Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Studies (PCESF)
3.1 To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Studies, a student shall:
  3.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  3.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
  3.1.3 obtain at least 20 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
3.2 For the Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Studies, the University has prescribed that a student must:
  3.2.1 successfully complete 20 credits from courses in Table 1.
