Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism and Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism
1. General
1.1
These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates.
1.2
In these regulations, definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
1.3 The Regulations Governing the Articulation of Qualifications shall apply for conversion of Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism to the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism and the conversion of the above Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma to the award of Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism.
1.4 A student shall complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism or Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism or Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism within one year for full-time study or two years for part-time study. Under special circumstances, students may apply to the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences for extension of the maximum period of study, i.e. extension up to one year for full-time study or two years for part-time study.
 
2.
Entry Requirements
2.1
To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, and Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, a student shall have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary education institution, or the equivalent.
 
3.
Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism (PCCAHTF)
3.1
To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, a student shall:
 
3.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
3.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
 
3.1.3
obtain at least 20 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
3.2

For the Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, the University has prescribed that a student must:

 
3.2.1
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
3.2.2
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled OA in Table 1.
 
4.
Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism (PDCAHTF)
4.1
To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, a student shall:
 
4.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
4.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
 
4.1.3
obtain at least 40 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
4.2
For the Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
4.2.1
successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
4.2.2
successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled OA and OB (either CAHT A800CF or CAHT A800F) in Table 1.
 
5.
Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism (MACAHTF)
5.1
To be eligible for the award of Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, a student shall:
 
5.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
5.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
 
5.1.3
obtain at least 60 credits in courses at Postgraduate level of which at least 40 credits in courses with English as the medium of instruction prescribed by the regulations.
5.2
For the Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
5.2.1
successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
5.2.2
successfully complete 15 credits from courses labelled OA in Table 1; and
 
5.2.3
successfully complete 5 credits from course labelled OB in Table 1; and
 
5.2.4
successfully complete 20 credits from CAHT A820F Research Project in Cultural and Heritage Tourism labelled RP in Table 1.
 
6.
Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism (MACAHTCF)
6.1
To be eligible for the award of Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, a student shall:
 
6.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
6.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
 
6.1.3
obtain at least 60 credits in courses at Postgraduate level of which at least 40 credits in courses with Chinese as the medium of instruction prescribed by the regulations.
6.2
For the Master of Arts in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
6.2.1
successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
6.2.2
successfully complete 15 credits from courses labelled OA in Table 1; and
 
6.2.3
successfully complete 5 credits from course labelled OB in Table 1; and
 
6.2.4
successfully complete 20 credits from CAHT A820CF Research Project in Cultural and Heritage Tourism labelled RP in Table 1.
