Regulations for the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management and Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management - for (a) Junior Police Officers or Police Officers who have obtained the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Security Management (in Chinese); or (b) Customs Officers or Probationary Inspectors of Customs and Excise Department who have obtained the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Customs Management (in Chinese)

Regulations for the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management and Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management – for (a) Junior Police Officers or Police Officers who have obtained the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Security Management (in Chinese); or (b) Customs Officers or Probationary Inspectors of Customs and Excise Department who have obtained the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Customs Management (in Chinese)

1.	General
1.1	These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).
1.2	In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

2.	Entry Requirements
2.1	To enter the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management and Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management, a student shall be either (a) a Junior Police Officer or Police Officer who have obtained the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Security Management (in Chinese) (30 credits); or (b) a Customs Officer or Probationary Inspector of Customs and Excise Department who have obtained the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Customs Management (in Chinese).

3.	Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (DLESM2)

3.1	To be eligible for the award of the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 2), a student shall:
	3.1.1	comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
	3.1.2	comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
	3.1.3	obtain at least 60 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations including at least 20 credits at Middle level.
3.2	For the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 2), the University has prescribed that a student must:
	3.2.1	have successfully completed the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Security Management (in Chinese) (30 credits); or the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Customs Management (in Chinese) (30 credits); and
	3.2.2	successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled FD and/or PFD* in Table 1; and
	3.2.3	successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled MD from Table 1 to obtain the total of 60 credits required for the award.
	*	Students who intend to articulate to the B.Soc.Sc. in LESM or B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) in LESM should note that credits from Pre-foundation level courses cannot be counted for articulation purpose.

4.	Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (HDLESM2)
4.1	To be eligible for the award of the Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 2), a student shall:
	4.1.1	comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
	4.1.2	comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
	4.1.3	obtain at least 90 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations including at least 10 credits at Higher level.
4.2	For the Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 2), the University has prescribed that a student must:
	4.2.1	have successfully completed the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Security Management (in Chinese) (30 credits); or the Certificate in Law Enforcement and Customs Management (in Chinese) (30 credits); and
	4.2.2	successfully complete 20 credits from compulsory courses labelled CHD in Table 1 (i.e. LESM A201, and LESM A204*); and
	4.2.3	successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled FHD and/or PFHD**in Table 1; and
	4.2.4	successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled MHD* in Table 1; and
	4.2.5	successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled HHD in Table 1 to obtain the total of 90 credits required for the award.
	*	credits gained in the Diploma can count towards the requirements of the Higher Diploma through articulation of qualifications. However, students wishing to pursue the 80-credit B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) in LESM programme through Pathway IV must directly articulate from the Diploma in LESM to the B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) in LESM and are not allowed to use the Diploma in LESM to articulate to the Higher Diploma in LESM.
	**	Students who intend to articulate to the B.Soc.Sc. in LESM or B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) in LESM should note that credits from Pre-foundation level courses cannot be counted for articulation purpose.

Students who have successfully completed BIS B220/BIS B121 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of BIS B123.
Students who have successfully completed MGT B346 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of MGT B290.
Students who have successfully completed PUAD A201 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of PUAD A202 and PUAD A203.
Students who have enrolled on BUS B171 on or before 2020 Spring term and passed the course will have the credits counted towards this programme and other relevant programmes of the Law Enforcement & Security Management Programmes. With effect from 2020 Summer term, this course is no longer offered.
Students who have successfully completed ECON A230C will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ECON A231C and ECON A232C.
