Regulations for the Diploma in Communications Technology

These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).

In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

Diploma in Communications Technology (DCT) (See Note 7)
1. To be eligible for the award of the Diploma in Communications Technology, a student shall:
  a) comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  b) comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
  c) obtain at least 60 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations including at least 20 credits from Middle level courses.
2.

For the Diploma in Communications Technology, the University has prescribed that a student must:

  a) obtain 5 credits from courses labelled D1 in Table 1; and
  b) obtain 5 credits from courses labelled B1 in Table 1; and
  c)

successfully complete 50 credits from courses labelled DC in Table 1.

Notes:

  1. The following is a list of phased out and replacement courses. A student who has previously successfully completed the phased out course will not be permitted to register on the corresponding replacement course

  2. Courses form excluded combinations with other courses. Only one of the courses of the excluded combinations can count towards an OUHK award. Students should refer to the attached list for details.

  4. Successful completion of MATH S101 is considered as completion of MATH S112/MATH S122. However, MATH S101 may only be counted as 10 credits against the programme requirements.
     
  5. Successful completion of ELEC S202 is considered as completion of ELEC S222 and ELEC S225.
     
  6. Successful completion of BUS B100 is considered as completion of BUS B103.
     
  7. The programme of Diploma in Communications Technology will be phased out with effect from 2016 Spring term. The last conferment of the programme will be June 2019.
