Regulations for the Certificate in Education
 
  

1.General
1.1These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).
1.2In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
  
2.Entry Requirements
2.1

To enter the Certificate in Education programme, a student shall normally:

  
 2.1.1hold a local PGDE/PCEd/BEd or equivalent; and
 

2.1.2

be teaching English or Chinese or Mathematics in a secondary or primary school in Hong Kong for a minimum of five periods per week/cycle.

  
3.Certificate in Education (CED1)
3.1To be eligible for the award of the Certificate in Education, a student shall:
 3.1.1comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 3.1.2

comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and

 3.1.3have been deemed to satisfy in full the specified pre-entry requirements for the programme of study; and
 3.1.4obtain at least 20 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations.
3.2For the Certificate in Education, the University has prescribed that a student must obtain 20 credits from the courses specified for the chosen strand, as indicated in Table 1.
4.Special pathways for HKMU students (CED2)
For OUHK students or graduates who have completed one of the courses in the strand they intend to apply for, another course will be assigned for completion of the programme.
