Regulations for the Associate of Arts in Chinese and English

These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).

In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

Associate of Arts in Chinese and English (AACE)
1. To be eligible for the award of the Associate of Arts in Chinese and English, a student shall:
  a) comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  b) comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
  c) obtain at least 80 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations, of which no more than 40 credits shall be gained at Foundation level.
2. For the Associate of Arts in Chinese and English, the University has prescribed that a student must:
  a) successfully complete 20 credits from four compulsory courses labelled CCF and ECF in Table 1 (CHIN A171C, CHIN A172C, ENGL A131 and ENGL A132); and
  b) * successfully complete 10 credits from the Translation courses labelled TC in Table 1; and
  c) * i) successfully complete 30 credits from the Chinese courses labelled CC, and 20 credits from the English courses labelled EC in Table 1;
    OR  
    ii) successfully complete 30 credits from the English courses labelled EC, and 20 credits from the Chinese courses labelled CC in Table 1.

Of the 60 credits gained from paragraphs 2b) and 2c), students must complete at least 10 credits in courses at Higher level.
