Aims

This course provides insights and understanding of the practical aspects of haematology and transfusion science especially for students taking Medical Laboratory Science. By integrating the theory covered in SCI 8043NEF, visual aids, case histories and group discussions, students learn to develop the concepts of haematology and the application of haematological techniques for research and diagnosis in both haematology and transfusion science.

Topic 3. Special haematological tests

Topic 4. Haemostasis

Topic 5. Blood transfusion

Assessment

Course assessment includes continuous assessment and a final practical examination. Overall Continuous Assessment Score (OCAS) includes laboratory reports and a practical test.

There is no textbook for the course. Major references will be used instead. Instructor will provide lecture notes and other necessary learning materials.
